Beirut – "Scenic World (Pocketknife's Breathtaken Remix)"

Funny enough that we're starting off the new year with material that could easily have been gathering dust for the past six months or longer. Cousin Cole and Pocketknife have been talking about their songwriter remix album, Tambourine Dream, for damn near as long as this blog has been in existence. So we're happy to announce the wait is [kind of] over. The 12-inch just dropped, and the 18-track mix CD should hit TTL in a week or two. The DJ-friendly unmixed CD album will follow next month.

And here's a disclaimer:

If you're hoping for these remixes to be rowdy, juked-up party stomper versions of the original tracks, you may be a bit disappointed. They're generally hushed, polite house-minded reworks, and they stay fairly true to the originals as far as their strain and direction. We expect this theme will carry over to the mix CD, and we're not at all dissatisfied with that idea.
