Diplo [ft. Rye Rye] – "Blow Your Head"
Monday, October 27, 2008 at 03:26PM
We're a bit confused. "Blow Your Head" is clearly a rehash of the excellent "Wassup Wassup," which came out on Diplo's four-track iTunes EP last year. Why exactly Diplo felt the need to gussy up the track is beyond us. Quite honestly, the original is better.
This newer version uses cutups of Rye Rye's vocals rather than leaving them in full-verse form. It's slightly longer and is a bit heavier on the effects, but it's not really too much different from the original. It'd be a stretch to even call it a remix.
We're not mad at it though. Again, "Wassup Wassup" was one of our favorite songs from 2007, so we can certainly stand more of where that came from, even if it confuzzles us.

The Blow Your Head EP will come out tomorrow. Its tracklist yields more confusion. The first song is called "Blow Your Head," while the remixes are called "Wassup Wassup." WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!
P.S. Check out the Eli remix of "Blow Your Head" over at Mad Decent (and every other blog on the planet by now).
