A Note to Those of You Who Submit Music to Us

OK, so I had really hoped I could avoid making this post altogether, but at this point it has become inevitable.

We've been around for about eight months, and we're getting to the point where we get lots of submissions, and that's very exciting! However, if you actually keep up with AiMT, you'll know that we are somewhat theme-oriented, and we don't cover much of any folk, rock or indie pop. Don't get me wrong—we do go on the occasional tangent now and again, but on the whole we are focused on music of urban and dance-pop varieties.

With that in mind, can someone explain why 90% of the material submitted to us is either folk, rock or indie pop? And not only that, but a lot of it is really good! It makes us sad to get such quality submissions when our incomprehensive theme prevents us from actually posting about them.

What I'm getting at is this: Please don't send us off-topic music. It won't get posted. XXL won't cover the new R.E.M. record, and CMT doesn't show the occasional rap video. For similar reasons, Ants in My Trance will not post about your semi-awesome band that kind of sounds like Animal Collective. Sorry! Sometimes these things are for the best!

(Now, if you've got remixes, that's obviously a different story—you might could holler.)
