Yelle – "À Cause des Garçons (iTunes Live)"

As catchy as I find her 2007 Lio-reminiscing debut full length, I never figured Yelle would catch on stateside. It's true enough that Euro bubblegum pop has steadily been on the rise in the U.S. for the past few years. But French-speaking pop? In the states?
Most people around these parts can't even watch a subtitled foreign film without their rotund heads exploding. And non-English-speaking music is thought of to be strictly for the terrorists.
Needless to say, I was very surprised when I learned that Yelle has gotten U.S. distribution. And today, I was utterly amazed to learn that not only is she distributed domestically, she's got a featured iTunes new release. It's a live EP—an "iTunes Live" EP at that. And it's quite good. The EP's five songs don't sound too much different from their album counterparts. They're spiced up with what sounds like some synth meddling and a live drum kit.
This is a longer version of "À Cause des Garçons," which was one of our favorite singles of last year:
