Farewell, Clone Records
Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 09:47PM
It's kind of breaking my heart that legendary Dutch label Clone will no longer be releasing new music. I've always regarded Clone as a top five dance imprint. It started out peddling primarily acid house and techno, but its theme and variety has evolved over the years.
In the mid-to-late '00s, Clone focused primarily on Moroder-influenced throwback disco, which would ultimately help pave the way for folks like Hercules and Love Affair, Kelley Polar and Italians Do It Better.
I threw together this short mix, which culls tracks mostly from Clone's abovementioned '00s period, to pay my respects.
00:00: Putsch '79 - "Training Montage" [2004]
04:23: Pauli vs. Tyrell - "Little (S.Y.D. Remix)" [2007]
09:23: Alden Tyrell - "Knockers" [2003]
13:51: Glass Domain - "Fairy" [1991]
15:46: Alden Tyrell [ft. Nancy Fortune] - "La Voix (Elitechnique
Remix)" [2006]
22:06: Putsch '79 - "Picotto Jade" [2003]
27:43: Dexter - "Echt Vet" [2005]

Luckily, Clone's reissues sublabel, Clone Classic Cuts, will remain active.
