Kanye West [ft. T-Pain] – "Good Life" Video

I'm not sure Ye deserves a post right now. Perhaps he should be in timeout after his little VMAs tantrum, but it's a fun video. I'm thinking maybe Jonas & François—they did "D.A.N.C.E."—had a hand in it, but that's just a guess.

Why Sweden Is Better Than You: Eric Malmberg

eric-malmberg-01.jpg

This is a bit of a tangent for us, but guess what—we're really not sorry. Not this time anyway. Why, you ask? Because awesome is awesome. And Eric Malmberg? Well, he's a special brand of awesome. His awesome is so special that it eclipses even A-plus-B mash-ups and VMA pictures of an oddly muscley Dr. Dre.

Malmberg got his start as one half of the now-defunct organ-plus-drums duo Sagor & Swing. His debut 2005 full length, Den Gåtfulla Människan, saw him culling sounds exclusively from his trusty Hammond organ, a staple instrument in Swedish prog rock. Today he is at the forefront of an exclusive clique of Hammond-hugging Swedes led by Bo Hansson, who set the genre into motion in the '70s.

Amazingly, Malmberg brought Hansson (pictured above, second from right) out of the woodwork for his new album, Verklighet & Beat, which will be released tomorrow (aka 50 vs. Kanye Day) on Häpna. Hansson apparently plays synth on the record, while Malmberg sticks to the Hammond. From the sound of it, I'm sure it will end up making quite a few end-of-year lists. I, for one, have my hopes up enormously. Here are two tracks from the album:

P.S. Anyone remember when I reviewed the first Malmberg album? I do. Kinda.

M.I.A. [ft. Bun B & Rich Boy] – "Paper Planes (Remix)"

mia-07.jpg

Just spotted this over on Palms Out. Let's hope this gets a proper release. I don't suppose Bun B and Rich Boy are the kind of dudes you touch base with for an internet-mix-set-only track. This must be the real deal.

New Madonna = Ick

madonna-01.jpg

It's beginning to look like a mainstream pop flood around here, and I apologize for that. That's really not the idea. Maintenance is still underway, but it will soon be over.

I had planned on objectively linking you guys to this new Madonna song and letting you decide for yourself what you think about it. But eff that—I'll decide for you. This song blows. The Neptunes sank way below their own occasional standard of suck to dish out this putrid mess.

It's here, but again, it sucks hose water.

Maintenance

disco-berry.jpg

The man's got his thumb on me right now, but I haven't forgotten about you. And I know there are a _lot_ more of you now than there were this time last week. Next week we'll be back in full effect. Maybe sooner. Patience, my gentle blogworms.

BUSTED

disco-berry.jpg

Funny story: You know all those songs I had been posting? Well, they're gone. All of them. I won't bother explaining how or why this happened.

Ultimately this means that I won't be posting nearly as many download links. Streaming widgets were Plan A, and I should have stuck with Plan A. So, you'll still be able to _stream_ tracks from the site, but you will no longer be able to download every song I post. I will, however, post download links on occasion when I get permission to do so. And I'll always include links for exclusive content.

All in all, a few things will be changing here, but not many. We're still a blog. And this is still the internet. I guess that's the general idea. It will take me some time to re-upload and relink songs. I won't be reposting _all_ songs, but I'll at least repost the hot garbage.
