Pimpin' Angel – "Since Knee-High"

pimpin-angel-01.jpg

I've had a hell of a hard time digging up much of any information about this act. It could be one dude. It could be more than one dude. What I _can_ tell you is that Pimpin' Angel reps "the P.G." (aka Prince George's County, Md.). But that's practically irrelevant. The important thing to take away from this post is as follows: If you get your picture taken with Buffie the Body, you will get a post. You don't even have to have a song.

In fact, if you're associated with Buffie in any way, shape or form, you're somewhat likely to get a post out of me. Buffie is the number one motivation in my life right now, so if you can somehow get me one step closer to her, you will get _beaucoup_ posts. Furthermore, you'll be able to pick a new name for my blog.

Still Going – "Still Going Theme"

still-going-01.jpg

Still Going is the NY duo of Eric Duncan of Rub-n-Tug and Olivier Spencer (aka Manthraxx). They're the newest act to the DFA roster, and "Still Going Theme" is their first and only single. It's a conflicted track. It wants to be on the dancefloor and in your headphones all at once.  I suppose I'd be content with either—it plays both sides of the field well enough.

The song first surfaced on the Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas Essential Mix back in May. Today the single was released digitally, and the 12 will drop on the 18th.

50 vs. Ye Chronicles

50-cent-06.jpg

50 Cent during an interview yesterday on AJ's Playhouse on San Diego's Channel 933:

"It's not possible for Kanye to beat me. It's like the teddy bear versus the gorilla. Def Jam is going to buy about 200,000 of Kanye's records. Kanye sucks. I'm going to be honest. He sounds like a robot. He has a robot record."

Luckily for Kanye, robots are awesome. Listen here.

Stick a fork in 50. Dude's been done.

Britney Spears – "Gimme More" Prod. by Danja

britney-spears-01.jpg

My boy Perez is on top of his game as usual. I think we can conclude by Danja's drop at the end of the track that he produced it. It's a pop-a-fied electro-house number. Not sure what I think yet.

Kanye West [ft. T-Pain] – "Good Life"

kanye-west-02.jpg

Ye doesn't need my help. And I didn't plan on posting anything Graduation-related, but I couldn't help myself after hearing this. "Good Life" is slated to be the third single off the forthcoming full length. T-Pain lends the hook. Jon Brion does his composition thing—luckily the strings aren't autotuned. Atlanta's Toomp—he made the "What You Know" beat—helps Mr. West behind the boards. All of this atop a "P.Y.T." sample!

Damn, Ye! Is it my birthday?!

Ye's delivery still isn't where I'd like it to be, but you have to admire his almost-smart "blond dyke" one-liners: "Have you ever popped champagne on a plane / While gettin' some brain / Whipped it out, she said said, 'I never seen snakes on a plane.'" If he keeps it up, maybe Kanye will actually make my diaphram quake ever so slightly in five years or so. But in the meantime he'll have to write Galifianakis out of his life completely. It can be no other way.

At this point, I'm pretty much hoping Ye stomps 50's ass on the 11th.

Róisín Fever Continues

roisin-murphy-02.jpg

I've gotten a chance to sample a handful of tracks off the forthcoming Róisín album, Overpowered, and I'm getting more excited by the day. Its UK release date is set for October 15. No announcements yet on a US date. (Surprise, surprise!) But we're not that worried. We've still got Amazon.co.uk.

I posted a BBC rip of new single ("Let Me Know") two weeks ago. Check that post for more Róisín mania plus videos. Here's the real thing along with a B-side from the first single ("Overpowered"):

Róisín Murphy – "Let Me Know (Radio Edit)"

Róisín Murphy – "Foolish"

We have to continue to give unending props to this Róisín fan blog for keeping us posted on the record and its singles.

Eazier-E

lil-eazy-e-01.jpg

I have practically nothing to say about this guy, but please note the following: If you're Eazy-E's son, and you call yourself "Lil' Eazy-E," you get a post. That's all there is to it.

The 24-year-old Compton native has recently been signed to Universal via DJ Yella's N.W.A. Ent. Two songs have leaked thus far. One was produced by Timbaland and the other by Scott Storch. They're both duds.

Props to Ed for "Eazier-E."
