Brazilian Girls [ft. Mr. Vegas] - "P***y (Armsofgandhi Remix)"

brazilian-girls-01.jpg

The delightfully NSFW "Pussy" first appeared on the Brazilian Girls' Lazy Lover EP back in 2004. So they're a few centuries late getting this remix commissioned, but here it is.

Mr. Vegas gets a few verses and breathes new life into the unforgettable chant: "Pussy pussy pussy marijuana!" And really, if you can name someone better than Mr. Vegas to chant such expletives, you're better than me.

Dude 'n Nem – "Watch My Feet (Disney Mix)"

dude-n-nem-03.jpg

Don't get _too_ excited. There's not much new here other than a few alternate lyrics: "I got my hat, hat / Wishin' in my shirt, shirt / Upon a star real far from the earth, earth."

Even so, "Watch My Feet" is the most important song of our generation, so I will report every last insignificant piece of news I come across pertaining to it. That's just how it's gotta be.

Btw, if you haven't seen the video yet, I pity you.

Yung Joc – "Pak Man" Prod. by Khao

yung-joc-01.jpg

Joc's summer crack rap anthem "Coffee Shop" features a comically sped-up voice along the lines of Quasimoto. If you pay attention to the song's intro, you'll notice that Joc actually addresses his alter ego as "Pak Man."

"Pak Man" (the song) is a more fully realized manifestation of the character, and it's got a catchy beat by Montgomery, Ala. native Khao. Although I can't say I'm very comfortable with songs about dealing drugs having nursery rhyme beats. There's something very Joe Camel about it all.

Joc's new album, Hustlenomic$, dropped today. Here's the "Coffee Shop" video for those who may have missed it:

Girl Talk in Tulsa: The Aftermath

12.jpg

Here's what I managed to capture from the show on Friday night. I'm not much of a photographer, and it was extra tricky to accurately capture such pandemonium. Arms were the main problem. There were many arms, and more often than not they were being waved in the air.

The set was nutso from start to finish. The crowd had the entire stage at capacity before the first song was even over. Sweaty, amped bodies were huddled around Mr. Greg Gillis like school children around an ice cream truck. I never knew I'd witness such enthusiasm for one tiny man and his laptop. No telling how many close calls dude's laptop has had while touring. I shudder at the thought.

The sound sucked. That was the only real downside. Oh, and the trucker hats. Those also sucked. I didn't think those things were still around, but Tulsa proved me wrong. And how.

Thai Pop Spectacular

thai-pop-spectacular-01.jpg

Sublime Frequencies continues to peddle obscuro ambrosia for us globally minded audiophiles. Thai Pop Spectacular, 1960s – 1980s is the label's 32nd compilation, and, well, it's pretty self-explanatory. If you follow Subliminal Sounds' Thai Beat A-Go-Go series, you'll know what to expect here: goony, off-center disco, funk, rock & roll, doo wop and pop standards balladry. Here are two of the album's whopping 21 tracks:

Chailai Chaiyata & Sawanee Patana – "Kwuan Tai Duew Luk Puen" [tr. "You Should Die by Bullets"]

Man City Lion – "Na Doo" [tr. "Very Striking Girl"]

If you're anything like me, Thai Pop Spectacular may very well end up being your favorite reissues release of the year. Cop it here.

ZZT – "Lower State of Consciousness" Video

I had specifically planned on _not_ posting anything about this track because of its rampant overexposure, but now that I've seen the video, I can't help myself. I'm not sure what's so appealing about ants being exterminated, but somehow it does the trick for me. No idea who directed this, but hats off to him/her/them.

ZZT is—as if you haven't heard by now—Tiga and Zombie Nation. "Lower State of Consciousness" is their first-and-only single. Tiga steps away from the mic for this project and goes the faceless techno producer route. I'll assume many of us will view that as a blessing.

Not surprisingly, the Justice remix B-side seems to be getting more exposure.

Amy Update

amy-winehouse-08.jpg

Perez Hilton posted these text messages allegedly sent to him from Amy this morning. She claims that her husband Blake "never has hurt [her]." We share a genuine concern for Amy's health and well being, and we apologize for rallying around a possibly inaccurate account.

However, we pose the following notion: If a man helps you overdose on horse tranquilizers, perhaps he's not your friend(?) Just sayin'...

Btw, wouldn't _any_ "dose" of horse tranquilizers consumed by a human being be considered an overdose? 'Cos like I'm pretty sure there's no "take as directed" label on that shit.
