Sunday Girl - "Four Floors" (Video + Diplo Remix)

Sunday Girl
Sunday Girl has a mere seven comments on her MySpace and under 800 plays. Yet somehow she's already commissioned remixes from Diplo and Russ Chimes along with an oh-so-posh video directed by Elisha Smith-Leverock. Of course, that may say more about MySpace's decline than Sunday Girl's popularity, but in any case, she's clearly another one of these out-of-nowhere off-center British bubblegum pop types (e.g., Ellie Goulding, Florrie). Give her seven months, and she'll be climbing the BBC singles chart.

Diplo turns out a terrific dubstep-leaning remix here. (That's right—Diplo, as well as every other producer on the planet, is making at least some dubstep these days.)

The Boogaloo Crew - "Calling All Dancers"

The Boogaloo Crew

Something about this track hooks me like a fish. Maybe it's the synth nods to classic ambient house. Haven't figured it out yet.

Basement Jaxx [ft. 607 & Bobby] - "Raindrops (Joker & Ginz Remix) (607 Flip)"

607

Ah, the glory days...early 2009. Back then, I was posting a new 607 flip every few weeks. But after a few months of keeping our supply steady and thoroughly whetting our appetites, Lord Six split to Russia for a minute, and the flip flood came to a sad, unwelcome halt. Luckily 607 has been recording with his brother Bobby (aka Mr. Morbid) throughout this interim. He's got a new 17-track album out titled Ear Fear, and you can cop it here.

He actually sent me this flip of Joker & Ginz's remix of "Raindrops" two months ago, so my bad for just now getting around to sharing it. It's on the album:

In other Lord Six news, he came in second place in Diplo's Makin' Christmas contest over on Mad Decent. He got beat out by Milonakis, which—don't get me wrong—I loves some Schmiloschmakis, but damn. Our boy Six took that. Let's be rill.

Dirty South Joe and IHEARTCOMIX's Flufftronix are releasing a "sensual" dubstep mix on Valentine's via Mad Decent Radio. This teaser got a lol out of me, so I couldn't help but share it:

Sleek - Fall 2009 Dubstep Mix

Sleek - Fall 2009 Mix

Fellow A-Stater Shawn Lee from the Bass + Kicks camp is a man of many trades—blogger, DJ, graphic artist and promoter for the Cool Shoes monthly (just to name a few). Recently he's picked up yet another hat: dubstep production under the Sleek alias.

Here's his fall mix of rugged, aggressive dubstep, complete with metal breakdowns and industrial motifs. Check for a bonus Sleek remix after the jump. It's quite an impressive little choon, especially for someone who's just taken up production within the past few months.

Burial - "Fostercare"

I tend to refrain from posting the drearier, more headphone-reserved side of dubstep, but a new Burial track is not to be slept on. Untrue is an album I still come back to regularly nearly two years after its release.

Burial's label, Hyperdub, will be putting out its first full length album release since Untrue on October 7th. It's a two-disc compilation celebrating the label's five years of existence. The first disc consists entirely of exclusive new material while the second picks tracks from the back catalog. It's titled 5, and you can pre-order it here.

"Fostercare" is Burial's new one from the comp. Here's a CD-quality stream. (It's not a YouTube rip.) See what you think. UPDATE: Hyperdub has requested that I remove the stream. Very sorry.

Sean Kingston vs. Rusko - "Fire Burning (Bionic Commando A+B by Baby Armie)"

Sean Kingston vs. Rusko

UPDATE (9/9): This somehow broke the Top 15 on Hype Machine. I'm pretty sure it peaked at #14 with 123 ♥s. Thanks for all the love, everyone.

I did a huge no-no when making this mash-up—I used vocals over the warbly bass parts. I know that's not proper dubstep etiquette, but I couldn't help myself:

• Vocal Source: Sean Kingston - "Fire Burning"
• Instrumental Source: Rusko - "Bionic Commando (Remix)"
Leave me a comment on Soundcloud, and I'll send you a 320 kbps version.

I also made a version for DJs without the machine gun sound at the end. Might make it easier for transitions. Get @ me if you want it.

Eve - "Me 'n My (Up in the Club)" [prod. by Benga & Salaam Remi]

(via Nah Right)

Eve goes dubstep?

Since Snoop and Lil' Jon both repped dubstep months back, I suppose it's not too surprising that other U.S. urban radio icons would follow suit. Nah Right claims this lil' jernt is going to be Eve's new single. Props to her for being adventurous, but she seriously needs to rerecord these vocals if she expects this to fly in the club. There's potential here, but her soft-spoken '01 flow needs a lot more energy and swag. What say you?

Ellie Goulding - "Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix)"

(via Neon Gold)

Ellie Goulding

Up-and-coming UK songwriter Ellie Goulding has a very marketable post-teen-talent-show, post-TRL kind of voice. If you can get past the gloss of it all, you'll find plenty of hearty talent swirling around her ethereal bubblegum folk-pop songs.

While the original "Starry Eyed" wouldn't sound too out of place on US Top 40 radio, the Jakwob remix casts the track into super accessible dubstep territories. This kind of crossover simply wouldn't have happened two years ago, and it's a testament to how rapidly the genre is growing and becoming a household fixture. These producers seem more and more willing to meet artists halfway. Anyone who said dubstep is never sexy may wanna reconsider for this one:
