Baby Armie - Always the Movement

Took me forever to find the OG Walmart font.
I've done some low-key one-offs here and there over the past year, but this is my first "proper" mix in OVER a year. My schizophrenia as a DJ isn't slowing down—since I launched AiMT, I've thrown down disco, electro, bmore, Bollywood, and who knows what else. This time around it's a full-on dubstep set. It's meant to be a companion piece to the new Dubstep Thursdays at Speakeasy.

This particular mix has more Baby Armie exclusives than any other I've put out. I'll be posting them individually in the coming weeks (and you can grab that G6 jernt after the jump for starters). It's also steeped with A-state friendliness: unreleased tracks by Wolf-E-Wolf and Sleek, an unreleased 607 flip as well as his killer Basement Jaxx one, and exclusive blends by yours truly, including one of Fayetteville rapper and Concrete Schoolyard co-host T.Jay's new track "Breakfast & Biggie." (Cop it off iTunes.) Oh! And most importantly, there are multiple Walmart references to round out the Arkansas vibes. Enjoy!

Beatpunks at Fix tonight

Just a quick heads up that OKC is taking over Fix in a matter of hours, and it's officially an AiMT-sanctioned affair. RSVP here.

The curiously plural one-man entity Beatpunks will be headlining. Alongside him will be Mikey Patron and Fix resident EQ's new project Diamond Life, a tag team affair with OKC's Daniel Rockwell, debuting their live set.

See y'all there. Beatpunks and Diamond Life goodies after the jump.

Ciara vs. Guido [ft. Ludacris] - "Ride (Baby Armie A+B)"

Ciara vs. Guido

UPDATE: So I just discovered (upon Googling "ciara vs guido") that Giographic already blended these two songs back in May. Big time facepalm, but the two versions are different enough that I feel justified keeping this version up. His version seems to use the full version of "Ride," whereas mine just uses the acapella. I'm guessing a proper acapella version wasn't available when he made his back in May. Anyway, freakishly unlikely things happen sometimes. Moving forward.

Just a quick dubstep slow jam blend for that ass. Check out the instrumental source, Guido's "Mad Sax," off his new album Anidea (iTunes, $9.99).

Vocal Source: Ciara [ft. Ludacris] - "Ride"
Instrumental Source: Guido - "Mad Sax"

Speaking of dubstep, I'll be spinning alongside Fayetteville DJ Domewrekka Wednesday night at Fix. It will be an ALL-dubstep night, so—you know—bring ear plugs and stuff. RSVP link after the jump.

Tanner Beam's last set in Fayetteville

Tanner Beam & Baby Armie at SpeakeasyRSVP on Facebook
Check out Sayonara Set, a FREE AiMT-hosted party, on Thursday night at Speakeasy. Tanner and I will be doing sets, and Tanner is moving away soon, so this will be his last set as a Fayetteville resident. We figured this would be a good excuse to host a laid-back non-dance party and throw down some mellow joints. So leave your dancin' shoes at home and come out and sip on some $1 wine (until 11:30) and flirt with hawt locals.

Get a teaser track after the jump.

Diamond Life - "Want Some More (Computer Blue Remix)"

Diamond Life
Quickie from the Bomb City camp. Diamond Life, a project from Fayetteville's own EQ and OKC's Daniel Rockwell, just got the remix treatment from Computer Blue (also out of OKC):

DJ Mel at Fix tomorrow night

EQ and Shorfuze have an epic late spring planned for their Fix Wednesday weekly. We had 12th Planet a few weeks back. Next is Austin vet DJ Mel tomorrow, and Fool's Gold co-founder Nick Catchdubs in June. (Little Rock and Tulsa haven't had it this good in a minute.)

All big talent, but let's focus on this week's prize: DJ Mel. He hosts the Swoll monthly as well as a 13-years-deep Monday night weekly at Nasty's in Austin. His style is wildly eclectic, so no telling what he'll throw down tomorrow. Click to RSVP.

12th Planet at Fix on Wednesday

12th Planetphoto by Luke Nguyen
This will be Northwest Arkansas' undisputed biggest dubstep party yet, and lucky for us, we've got 12th Planet, who is arguably the biggest name in stateside dubstep, headlining the ticket.

This L.A.-based DJ/producer co-founded the SMOG label in 2006 and has been doing big things for the genre ever since. SMOG is largely responsible for West Coast dubstep's aggressive sound and put L.A. on the map as the genre's domestic capital. Lately 12th Planet has caught major buzz for his collaborations with veteran West Coast rapper Ras Kass.

This is the official Art Amiss 12 afterparty. It's tomorrow night (Wednesday) at Fix. Epiphany and Bizar will be opening along with Fix residents EQ and Shortfuze. Click to RSVP. If you miss this show, you are fully hopeless. That's the only explanation.

Holler at five 12th Planet choonz after the jump.

Fayetteville expat directs Javelin video flyer

Director Mike Anderson relocated to Brooklyn from Fayetteville a short while ago. Not sure if this an official music video and/or video flyer (i.e., formally endorsed by Javelin), but either way it's very pretty to look at. It's promoting a release party for No Más, Javelin's latest album. The party will take place on April 22 at Santos Party House in Manhattan. RSVP here.

UPDATE: Mike has confirmed that the project was indeed endorsed by Javelin and that he'll be directing the full music video as well. He tells me it'll be finished before summer.

Speaking of Javelin, I've been positively gushing over this duo since their remix of The Very Best's "Julia" landed late last year, and No Más is shaping up to be album of the summer. Here's one of my favorites off it (but they're all tight-to-death):

And here's that "Julia" remix because it's a little too good to pass up:

Diamond Life - Spring Mix + Bonus Track

Diamond Life - Spring Forward

Some local flavor here via the Aerosault fam. Diamond Life is the new production team of EQ (Fayetteville resident, Aerosault member, and resident DJ at Fix) and Daniel Rockwell (Oklahoma City resident and founder of Bomb City Records). These dudes have been dropping original tunes and remixes under this moniker for a few months now. Their direction tends to be Bmore-centric with heavy nods to old school house. Check this 50-minute-plus spring mix for a taste:

02. Fingaprint - "Night Theme"
03. Cubic Zirconia - "Josephine (Greenmoney Remix)"

Bombay Brouhaha 2 Tomorrow Night

Bombay Brouhaha 2
The first Bombay Brouhaha was a huge success, so it was inevitable that we would have another. This will almost certainly be our last Bollywood dance party, so for those of you who missed the first one, tomorrow night will be your only opportunity to see/hear/taste what all the fuss is about! Props to KXUA (our official sponsor), Fayetteville Flyer, Ozarks at Large, Friends of India, and other local media/entities for helping us get the word out.

Two reasons to get their early: 1) Catering by our friends at Zauq Pakistani-Indian Cuisine & Grill and 2) $1 wine until 11:30 p.m. Hope to see you there!

Click to RSVP on Facebook.

There are a few other related events happening this weekend. Tonight, check out KXUA's 10th anniversary, and Friends of India will host Holi Celebrations bright and early tomorrow. Also, here's the party sampler in case you missed it. It's all vintage Bollywood disco. (The party will feature primarily newer bhangra and Bollywood, but we'll have some oldies in there for good measure.)
